Scope is an applied AI company. We build custom AI systems and agents that run real workflows inside enterprises, things like customer onboarding, contract drafting, campaign launches, and the operational work that today eats hours of human time.

AI has flipped the economics of enterprise software. It's now faster and cheaper to build a custom system per client than to force that client to bend their processes around off-the-shelf tools. The results: customer onboarding compressed from days to hours, contract drafting reduced by 90%, campaign launches that used to take days now ship in under an hour.

About the Role

We're looking for an AI Strategist to lead our highest-stakes client engagements end-to-end. You will sit between the executive room and the production codebase: running discovery with C-level stakeholders, designing the AI workflows and systems that solve their problem, and shipping the production code that makes it real.

You will own the relationship, own the solution, and own the outcome.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Discover phase of client engagements: workshops with executives, mapping of processes and data, scoping of where AI creates the most value
  • Translate discovery findings into a concrete Design that combines off-the-shelf APIs, custom build, and the Scope Context Layer, with crisp reasoning about tradeoffs
  • Deploy: build and ship production AI systems alongside engineering, including agentic workflows, knowledge systems, analytical pipelines, and automations
  • Own the executive relationship throughout the engagement, presenting progress, managing change, and earning expansion
  • Write production-grade code in Python/FastAPI and TypeScript/Node, integrating with LLM frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, and the Anthropic and OpenAI SDKs
  • Translate what we learn at clients into platform improvements, feeding the Scope Context Layer so each engagement compounds
  • Set the bar for client delivery quality across the team

Requirements

  • 5+ years of combined experience spanning client-facing strategy work and hands-on engineering. The role asks for both, not one or the other
  • Track record of leading discovery and design with senior business stakeholders, including executive presentations and decision-forcing recommendations
  • Strong technical depth: ability to ship production code in Python and TypeScript, including AI and agent systems built with LLM frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, Anthropic and OpenAI SDKs, MCP)
  • Experience working at an applied AI shop, AI consultancy, or systems integrator, or in an equivalent forward-deployed role at a product company
  • Comfort with ambiguity and ownership: can walk into an unstructured client environment, identify the highest-leverage problem, and ship a working solution
  • Excellent written and spoken communication, with the credibility to push back on senior stakeholders when the data calls for it
  • Comfortable working in small teams with high ownership expectations, able to take a vague client problem from rough idea to deployed solution without hand-holding
  • Authorization to work in the US on a permanent basis (US citizen or lawful permanent resident). We're unable to sponsor visas at this time.

Bonus

  • Background at top-tier strategy consulting (BCG, McKinsey, Bain) or at firms with technical practices like BCG X, McKinsey QuantumBlack, or Bain Vector or in technical product roles.
  • Founder or operator experience, having built or led something end-to-end
  • Domain depth in one or more enterprise verticals such as financial services, healthcare, supply chain, or retail
  • Bilingual English/Spanish (useful for our LatAm-leaning client roster)
