About Scope
Scope is an applied AI company backed by Pear VC, one of Silicon Valley's most respected pre-seed funds and an early investor in DoorDash, Gusto, Dropbox, and Vanta.
We build custom AI systems and agents for the operational workflows that established businesses still run across email, spreadsheets, ERPs, and multiple teams. Current work includes procurement agents that take purchase requests through supplier quotes and issued orders; finance agents that apply payments and reconcile accounts; and customer-service agents that track orders, manage delivery incidents, and carry returns and claims through resolution.
Instead of using a fraction of a platform built for someone else, companies get tools built around their workflows, their exceptions, and their way of operating. We go into the back office, where work crosses disconnected systems and critical know-how sits with a few experienced people, and build the right mix of software, automation, and AI.
We are already working with enterprise clients, and our customer base is growing. We are expanding a small team with broad ownership and direct contact with customers to turn these workflows into production systems.
About the Role
The Lead AI Strategist owns client engagements from the first discovery conversation through a working production system. You will understand how an area of the business operates, identify the highest-value problems, design the technical approach, lead the delivery team, and see the deployment through adoption.
This role combines client leadership, product judgment, and technical depth. You should be comfortable working with executives and operators, then moving into architecture, integrations, data flows, implementation decisions, and delivery tradeoffs with engineers.
The delivery team may include more junior AI Strategists who own technical workstreams and engineers with deeper specialization. You remain accountable for the client relationship, architecture, implementation choices, delivery, and adoption, while managing the Scope team assigned to the engagement.
You will stay close to the technology throughout the engagement. Depending on your background, you may prototype and debug directly, or work closely enough with engineers to review implementation decisions, challenge assumptions, and recognize when the system is ready for production. You do not need to be the strongest coder on the team, but you must be technically curious, learn quickly, and exercise sound judgment.
The role is remote in Bogotá, Buenos Aires, or Mexico City today. As Scope expands, we may establish local offices in selected markets. A successful person in this role could help open and lead one of those offices, including building its initial team. Opportunities may also emerge to relocate within Latin America or to the United States. Any relocation would be explored based on mutual interest, business needs, and the immigration options available at the time.
You will join Scope's founding team and shape how the company delivers its most important work. The role has broad responsibility from the start and the opportunity to build the deployment model, team, and local presence as Scope grows in Latin America.
Responsibilities
- Lead discovery with executives, process owners, operators, and technology teams.
- Map workflows, systems, data, constraints, and operating knowledge.
- Identify and prioritize opportunities based on business value and implementation reality.
- Turn discovery into a clear system design, delivery plan, and set of measurable outcomes.
- Manage AI Strategists and engineers through implementation, testing, rollout, and production stabilization.
- Guide architecture decisions across enterprise systems, APIs, data stores, and AI components.
- Maintain a direct client relationship throughout delivery, including progress, tradeoffs, risks, and decisions.
- Drive adoption and confirm that the deployed system generates the operating outcome it was designed for.
- Turn deployment lessons into reusable methods, components, and standards for future engagements.
- Help recruit, coach, and lead deployment teams as Scope grows.
Requirements
Strong candidates may come from either a product/tech background or a strategy consulting background.
- 5+ years of experience, with increasing responsibility for ambiguous, high-stakes work.
- For the product and technology path: experience owning a software product or technical implementation from problem definition through production rollout.
- For the strategy consulting path: experience at Bain, BCG, McKinsey, or a comparable firm, with strong product instincts, technical curiosity, and evidence that you can become fluent in unfamiliar systems quickly.
- Ability to understand architectures, integrations, data flows, and failure modes well enough to question assumptions and make decisions with engineers.
- Experience leading clients and cross-functional teams, communicating technical decisions in business terms, and managing delivery risks.
- Curiosity about unfamiliar business operations and comfort making progress with limited structure.
- Professional fluency in Spanish and English, with availability to travel for client work within Latin America and occasionally to the United States.
Bonus
- Hands-on experience with backend systems, integrations, platforms, or data flows.
- Working with enterprise platforms, ERPs, legacy applications, retail, logistics, or financial operations.
- Building AI systems, agent workflows, knowledge systems, or automation products in production.
- Managing or mentoring engineers across several workstreams.
- Helping establish a new team, office, business unit, or market.
